Speed Trailer: Toby reported that there was some mix-up with getting the speed trailers hauled to the village. The entire division is being restructured and we are falling through the cracks. Toby will meet with Lt. Kolziki on Friday to find out what can be done. In the meantime tickets are being written. Toby also reported that at the latest NCPC meeting it was reported that Shannon Barber has returned as our beat officer. It was discussed that volunteers are needed to attend the monthly NCPC meetings. Jill reported that nothing has been done regarding her speed bump petition. Jim Nelson added that when the issue of speed bumps had been raised in the past the biggest problem was the placement of the signs, no one wanted them in front of their house. Website: Update on the website presented by Jennie. Villager Carole DeLozier has submitted the mock up and we are now looking for a host. The website will not replace the Crier. Egg Hunt/Easter Event: Jill reported that the first annual SV Easter Egg Hunt was a huge success and at least 75 children attended. Motion was raised and seconded to formally thank Susanna and Gerry Oto in the next issue of the Crier. Jennie agreed to write the article and Jill agreed to get additional information from Susanna as to who else should be thanked. Student Scholarships: Jill contacted Jennifer Palmer who will coordinate the application process with the San Leandro High School counselor in charge of Senior Recognition night and homeowner scholarships. Sheffield Village Crier: Brian will edit the May issue and will make sure it is out before the Garage Sale. Delivery issues were discussed. Having Block Captains deliver the Crier was mentioned and all agreed that it should be pursued. We discussed the possibility of mailing them but that did not seem cost effective. No resolution was reached. Chabot Golf Course Environmental Impact Report (EIR): KSL has pulled out of the golf course deal. There are no further developments to report. Doggie Dispensers: Toby has purchased the doggie dispensers and they should arrive the first week in May. They will be installed at two places in Onset Park. SV Recreation Advisory Council: Brian Kelly has been talking it up, Jim Nelson volunteered to be on the council. Deni agreed to follow up with Brian and Michelle Fulper. Parks: Steve Murphy reported that Darnell Shaw wants to help with California native plant restoration. He is not a villager but has donated some plants and "dry water", he wants to continue the process. He is an Environmental Consultant who lives in Oakland, Steve suggested that he be mentioned in the Crier. The maple trees in Onset Park are "volunteering" and villagers are encouraged to come and transplant them. A Pine tree is dying in Milford Park- Steve, Matt Cronin and Toby will take it down. There are Oak trees volunteering and Steve is transplanting them up the hill. Jake Seimens volunteered to rototil Covington Circle if we get permission- Toby agreed to follow up with the Parks department. Steve wants to build a redwood retaining wall behind the walkway in Milford Park. A volunteer carpenter is needed to supervise and direct. Matt Cronin is going to fill the cracks in the tennis court. MacArthur Corridor Neighborhood Meeting: Brian will attend the first half and Jill will attend the second half. Tree Trimming: There is no further tree trimming scheduled for Sheffield Village by the City of Oakland. Deni agreed to write a letter from the HOA requesting that the trimming be completed. Garage Sale: Tentative date set of May 19th. Deni will ask for information for the Crier from Brian Kelly. Toby will be the point person on the board to coordinate with BK. The meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m.
