SVHOA Board Meeting July 16, 2002Meeting commenced at 7:05 p.m. Board Members in attendance: President Brian Brick, Treasurer Jennie Brick, Plans Chair Gail Rappl, and Vice-President Jill Warner. Board member absent: Parks Chair Matt Cronin. Other attendees: Will, Madelina, and Marisa Jay, Joe McClintock, Jen Frick, Captain Dennis Shinn, Bobbie Hartman, and Jeff Jorgenson.
June minutes approved. Bookkeeper's Report- Jen Frick presented the financial statements for April, May and June. To date 82% of dues have been collected. Annual Picnic- Gail Rappl announced the picnic committee will meet at her house, 181 Marlow, on Thursday at 7:30pm. Jennie and Jill will attend. Parks Update- Parks Chair was not in attendance. Brian Brick suggested that the weeds need cutting back at Onset Park. A discussion regarding long-term solutions continued. Plans Report- Gail Rappl will draft a letter to the homeowner on Marlow regarding painting their newly erected fence. Plans were submitted for 201 Covington to add 2 feet to their kitchen. The plans were approved by the board. Insurance Renewal- the board unanimously approved the new coverage. Crier Editor- Brian has been interim unpaid editor since February 2000. The board and attendees discussed whether the Crier should become a board function. Hillside Development- Ed Patmont will be submitting request for an easement from the Dunsmuir House at their board meeting on August 1st. Larry Reid's office will look into whether an easement has been granted from the school on Malcolm. The question was raised as to whether or not this development would lead to further development on the ridge. It was agreed that continued discussion and updates would be disseminated via the email tree. Bobbie Hartman agreed to put together a strategy for the 8/1 Dunsmuir meeting. Brian will get the word out via the email tree about the 8/1 meeting and encourage neighbors to spread the word. It was also discussed that a petition for the 8/1 meeting might be helpful. Bobbie suggested that press releases regarding the state of the development be done after the 8/1 meeting. Joe McClintock wondered if there were other "open space" organizations that could help us organize. It was discussed whether or not the city of Oakland could buy the property and designate it "open space". Brian would check with Pat Mossburg regarding the Dunsmuir meeting and how many people from SVHOA should attend. Talking points for the meeting will be established. A petition will be started for the meeting. Six attendees agreed to go to the 8/1 meeting if necessary. Other- Captain Dennis Shinn from the OPD discribed the bi-monthly NCPC meetings. At 8:45 p.m. the meeting adjourned
